Sleepovers in the Outdoors

Ever since I was a little kid, I enjoyed having sleepovers with my friends because I loved getting to hang out for a longer period of time than usual with the kids I was great friends with. Our sleepovers included games, jokes, and fun conversations. But for most people, those friendly sleepovers slightly faded away and are no longer a thing. Well not for me! I found out there is still a way I can have sleepovers with something that I love most, the outdoors. So let me tell you all about my camping experiences and what goes on at my campsites.

What to Do While Camping

Camping is something that I try to do all year long. I don't care what the weather has to say about it. Some of the things that I enjoy about camping is sitting under the campfire all night and talking with the people around me. So many funny stories and jokes are told around campfires and great memories are always made. Another thing that is great about camping is you're in the middle of nowhere usually which means there is little to no lights around you and that makes it so the stars are always shining at their fullest. Nothing is better than looking up into the clear sky and seeing billions of different stars and the different shapes that they form.

There is something about different about camping food too. Sometimes the simplest foods taste the best in the outdoors. My typical meals throughout the day consist of breakfast burritos in the mornings that contain eggs, the previous night's dutch oven potatoes, and bacon in them. For lunch I like to have a sandwich of any kind or even just a hot dog that you can cook on the fire. And for dinner, there are multiple options. My favorite is dutch oven potatoes and a nice side of peach cobbler. These are the foods that I think I would have as my last meal on this earth.

The Sleeping Part

After a long night by the fire and usually the point to where your eyes burn and you smell like pure smoke from the fire, it is time to cuddle up in your sleeping arrangement. Where I sleep all depends on what the weather says. If it is raining outside then I will set up a tent that will keep me dry. If it is clear skies then I will usually set up an air mattress in the bed of my truck so I can enjoy the night sky as I fall asleep. Either way, listening to the crickets chirp, trees swaying from the wind, and the wood popping in the burning out fire are some of the best sounds to fall asleep to.

If you haven't been out camping, you should definitely give it a shot!
